Late Bloomers

A favorite of mine-- Summer's End...

And what would we do without L. speciosums.... I purchased from buggy and also "brand X". I sure can tell the difference that big healthy bulbs make!

Oh, pard, where did you ever get Summer's End'? It's lovely as is Buggy's rubrum.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Summer's End is exclusively from the Lily Garden. Sometimes it is in the society bulb sale. I highly recommend it. It grows better than any other oriental lily I have.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Oh, I just haven't ever seen it or certainly don't recall it. It reminds me a bit of 'Journey's End', and it certainly is a late bloomer. I'm always looking to extend the lily season. Now I know where to look for it.

I also have found Summer's End to be quite fertile. This will produce S. E. cross Lamb's Blood. Won't that be a nice combination? They both face straight out.

Another late blooming oriental is this white no name. It opens pure white, then the pink spots appear as it ages.

pardalinum I have that one also and would love to know the name it was given to me by a friends mom be for she passed and no one knows the name.

Oh, that crossed with Lamb's Blood would be a nice combo. You have a good eye for these things, pard.

I love these orientals, I wish I was brave enough to buy lots of them, but they don't do very well for me, I have very little shade and even though some of the bulbs do very well, the blooms burn up in our Iowa summer extremes.

L formosum. One of my last.

Blooming for me is LF1, and unregistered hybrid from a place that is no longer selling, Fogbelt Lilies.

Mainiac don't you miss them? Fogbelt is where I bought Rosy Dawn and Mojave many years ago. I was miserable when they closed but got a nice letter from the owner explaning. It seems he had been diagnosed with cancer and felt it more important to use his energy to fight the cancer than to dig bulbs. Can't blame him there but the public really lost a great place to buy bulbs. I'm really thankful my R. Dawn and Mojave are still thriving after all these years.

Poland, ME

Yes, such a shame. They had very nice bulbs!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

ooh, I like that LF1...

I've forgotten to say how pretty everyone's lilies are! I think I want just about all of them!
