Went for a quick Ride to Toowoomba for a flower festival .
On the way I saw this Danish shop selling Gourds .
I WAS hoping to see one big enough for a Letter Box .
There were Big ones & Little ones and some with a Bit of twist on .
Pictures of Australian GOURDS ( Big ones Little ones and ? )
Very cool. I love gourds - we have a huge gourd farm nearby and I took a workshop there - but one can only have so many bird houses. I'm not into the intensive work some gourd art requires, though. These are simple.
Kathleen....did youu see the Shakerie that I gave to Don and Pam this year? I LOVE my gourds....seldom grow any now but have friends that do so it's just as easy to trade for some.
Let's see some more gourd pictures....we can never get too many! Jo
Did you buy any? I would have had a hard time deciding what to take home!! Jo
Here is a link to the Danish shop .

Ginger....that looks like a most interesting place...and I would urge you to attend the next Gourd Festival!! They will have some of the most beautiful gourd art you will ever see.
My little gourd group here always go to the one about 100 miles from us...each Feb. Jo
Beautiful designs at the festival. Looks like it is much like ours here http://www.gourdfestival.com/
The Snake Gourds can get a little longer than those shown....but those are about average.....the Longhandled Dippers can get over 6 Ft.
The gourd farm that has the festival in our area has a piece of plywood with different size holes drillen in it...you take your gourd up to the board...and which ever hole it fits in ...you pay the price that is marked for that size hole...about $3.00 for a medium size gourd...the largest are about $15.00....but they are BIG!
Jo
Same at ours, Jo. http://www.welburngourdfarm.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=10
oh I love gourds, when we first moved in to our current house ... we had not enough to fill it up. On the big mantleplace I put beautiful bottleneck gourds - light green- in the fall, it looked lovely ... we've done it every year, never thought about painting them !
OT: Redtootsiepop - we loaded some steel in Tualatin in March - took me forever to say that town's name correctly. LOL
I just love the ones made into standing birds! How do you suppose the "legs" were attached? I just have to try that !
kooger, lol - I can't believe someone has actually been here ! When I signed up for phone service, they mistakenly signed up Tracy Tualatin instead of my last name, makes me feel like the Queen of the Town ! Also, I know who sold my name and address - thanks alot Verizon, whenever I get mail to Tracy Tualatin I throw it right out (shred)
small world, eh? After we loaded, we went east on the 205 to a rest area overlooking the Willamette R. We had an awesome view of Mt. Hood. DH's first cousin met us there with supper and we had a great visit for an hour. They live abt 30 miles south of the city. We hope to get there on a Fri. next time and spend the wknd with them. There's two other first cousins in the area also. ....funny story on your new last name. lol
Oh how nice ! Mt. Hood is beautiful, I should try to find a picture for Kell/Ginger :)
We have just recorded the lowest ever rainfall for the month of july .
In 150 years of keeping records . A total of 0 inches / points .
Yikes, and I thought we were dry here. What is "normal" rainfall for your area?
Average rainfall was 6 to 8 inches for july .
It all fell here. Sorry.
