Morning Glories 2007 # 10

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Welcome to the new thread. I think I posted this one already. This one looks like cotton candy.

This is from the Akatsuki mix. I like the way this large flower holds its shape.

I thought that picture looked dark so I lightened it. It isn`t a great picture but I thought it showed the way the flower held its shape.

I have lots of sunflowers up for the MGs to climb on.

Hi Beth, Nice! What kind of sunflowers are those? Karen

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

They were called Autumn Beauty.

hi beth
great idea
i may do that..since i have a huge veggie garden and im trying to find ways to grow the mgs..i will have to stake the sunflowers since they seem to fall down eventually

My Russian Mammoth sunflowers are done with now. I harvested the head to save seeds and trimmed the dying leaves off and left the glories on there to keep going. A large stake right next to the sunflower helped it hold all the weight of the vines but still one fell over during a storm.

Karen, The 1st one you posted is a beauty. Is that from a cross?
Like the one from the akatsumi mix, big, bold, and ruffley.

Beth, thanx for sending a pic of Gypsy Bride. It's so pretty. Waiting for
mine to bloom.

Last but hopefully not the least is my neighbors 'prison glories' that I will get seeds from. I love this one!!

You have some beauties there, Ronnie! Congrats! What kinda camera are you using?

Joseph

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Joseph. It is a Cannon Rebel that I love. I got it for my birthday last year and still don't know a whole lot about it!! LOL I would love to take a class. Sometime the manuals are so complicated for my blond brain!!☺ I just practice and delete a lot!

Here's a bee for you...

Thumbnail by luvsgrtdanes

Thanks, Ronnie! That kind of bee is territorial, I think it is the same one that patrols the South African Foxglove and drives off any and all other bees, even larger ones.

That camera is great!

Joseph

very pretty mgs ronnie :) do post some more!

Ronnie, lol, your Cannon is a similar model to mine. I have a cannon too, and oh the whistles and bells on it. I can't pick it up without pushing the wrong button. By summers end I hope to be proficient with it. It is up hill for me too. Love that magenta flowe and especially that Rebecca. All my rebeccas bit the dust with all that mold. But the plants I started in march, that survived are short and covered with buds.Frank

Thanks everybody. It was so good to finallly see some flowers!!

luvsgrtdanes - The bloom you posted here
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3743992
could be Chiaki...

The "Chiaki" is a blue youjiro that is a lighter blue than the similar but darker colored "Mai Sugata"

How about entering your bloom to the PlantFiles for Chiaki here

Thanks Beth.

Great pictures! Gypsy Bride is putting on a show. My soil in the back yard must be too rich because mine has left blooming and has lots of lush vines. We have have had a lot of rain too. I tried bloom booster to see if that will help.

patootie, That Is a lovely blue Hatsu Arashi! To answer your question about the first flower on the thread that is from a giant mix from komeri.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Maybe GB has just stopped blooming a while to put its energy into making seed. I have noticed that happening on other MGs. As soon as the seeds mature and you pull them off, the plant starts its blooming again.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Karen.

I thought this fading Star of India was interesting. This is the violet one
and it's out of OnaLees Jap Mixed Imperialis seed pkt. The other glory out of
this pkt is the regular Blue Star of India.
