I've never heard of this type of iris. Since there's a coop offering some spurias, seems like a great opp. to try them out, but I would still like to hear from somebody who grows them, particularly in the warmer climes. thanks for your help
Who grows spurias?
gee, surely somebody grows these. pls, pretty pls, tell us about them.
They get really tall down here Vossner, 3' to 5' and like to be left undisturbed for several years. Make good vertical accents--plant 1" deep down here. Good drainage and sun--heavy water in spring, cut to ground level in summer when foliage browns--new growth begins in late fall.
I'm usually hesitant to tell you what I know about some plants down here. I have some--but much prefer LA's. LA's have zippo, none disease problems down here and spuria's will sometimes get crown rot or fungus problems.

thanks debbie. I really appreciate that. I was considering buying some for our 2nd property in zone8, they wouldn't get disturbed 'cause I'm not there daily. I'll go ck out which ones might fit in my garden.
They would probably do much better at your second home than down here.
all the ones i'm buying in the coop are for the other house, I'm only getting LA iris for here in richmond. Again, I appreciate your help.
