Foudn a coupel of newly emerged seedlings under a loquat tree and dug them up and brought them home. For the first time in several years the tre e made fruit. Propably the warm winter we had.

When I was a child, we would sit up in the loquat tree, stuffing our faces with the sweet, fuzzy yellow fruits. It was a neighborhood pastime to see who could spit the smooth big seed the furthest! I'm currently waiting for the fruits on a neighborhood tree to ripen. Delicious.

Thanks Garden Mermaid. LOL... Sound s like you had some good fun. Did you ever win? : )

There are some yellow and some green fruits on the tre e at the moment. I did notice you have to pick them up carefully or juice gets all over your hands.

Sometime s it hard to just try somethign new to eat when your not sure if it ok to eat it or not or what to expect.

The way my luck goe s some days, I'd either get something posionous or somethign very rotten or sour tasting. Glad to know somebody has had them.

Loquats are very popular with those who know them! I noticed that one of the sites below states that the seeds are toxic if swallowed. I can't remember if we ever swallowed any. They were pretty good size.
