F1, F2, etc..?

Naperville, IL(Zone 5a)

I just read another post mentioning an F1 vs. F2 when seed collecting. The original poster mentioned wanting to save seed from a hybrid coneflower, I think Sunset. Is the Sunset coneflower the F1 and its seeds are F2, or the seeds from the Sunset coneflower are F1 and seeds from those F2?
Thanks for clearing it up for me.

In a simple cross, two parents are crossed to produce the F1. The F1 is selfed to produce F2 .

I believe in this case the Sunset is the F1 and its seeds will be the F2.

I hope I'm right and if not, then i hope someone sets us straight.

I agree with toofew...that's the way I'd figure it too....that may not be right, and if anyone has information to clarify...please post.
