We have an English walnut tree that has been in a large container (25 gallon) since it was small. Now, we have finally gotten it planted in the real ground. However, I fear it is no longer alive, that we may not have gotten it under cover/out of the cold soon enough during the Winter. The limbs feel "springy" but it is not leafing out. I can't remember when it leafed out last Spring. How do I tell?
Thanks,
Karen
How do I tell if an English walnut tree is still alive?
Wait a while longer to tell. Walnuts are slow to leaf out. I have some English Walnuts
Oh, thank you! I could not remember when it leafed out last year. It's from a nut planted in the lawn by a squirrel who forgot it. It has been in successively larger pots over the years and was moved from CA to AL two years ago. Finally, we have a permanent place to plant it. I do NOT want this tree to be dead. = + )
