How to water peat pots from underneath

I tranplanted a few things into peat pots which I would like to put directly in the ground. How do I water from underneath? The same as with a plastic pot and simply let everything get wet?

At what stage can you start watering from above?

i usually start watering from above gently after the first set of true leaves form.

bottom watering will work fine, just keep an eye on them if you're used to plastic -- they dry out faster.

When you plant out, you might need to make a few tears in the peat to be sure the roots can get through, and be sure to bury the whole rim of the pot or it will wick moisture away from the roots via evaporation.

I started some seeds in peat pots and pellets last year, and even after growing (trying to grow) all season, some were still root bound in the pots and even in the tiny pellets. Snip down the sides with sissors and cut out some chunks of the pot so the roots can escape.
