Every year..I keep saying that I am not creating any more flower beds..LOL..DH says, YOU say that every year..well this time I meant it..I think??!!??...I took two of the J&P "Windsor Arches" and crisscrossed them and made my own kinda Gazebo..I took pots and cut the bottom out and sunk them into the soil and make a bed around them...I planted four climbing Roses...and four Clematis..Now if I only could put this in a time machine and fastforward 3 years to have it all filled in..LOL..
Roses: J&P "Stairway to Heaven", "Devonensis","Mrs. Sam McGredy" and "Mme Afred Carriere"
Clematis: (From Debbie!) "Kermesia", "Madame Edouard Andre' " I also got "Fairy Dust" but hadn't decided where to plant it!!..

My Poor Aching back..but it's DONE!!
Nice job Jeanne, did you go peek at it first thing this morning ?! It will absolutely be gorgeous - did you do this all by yourself?
Very creative! I want to see pictures as thing progress! :)
Diann
Thanks yall..RedTootsie..you KNOW I went out this morning and looked..LOL..No, I didn't do it by myself...My husband helped me..what is cute is I have tons of birds, Mourning Doves, Grackle,Blue Jays and Red birds..they are always making nests in my roses and think I put that in just for their pleasure..it was so funny looking out..the new Gazebo was covered with Birds..kinda reminded me of a scene from Alfred Hitchcocks Movie "The Birds"..LOL...Jeanne
oh, i love the little birds, too we get tons of finches and Anna's hummingbirds are soo cute, we had one live in our backyard over the winter (and fiercely defend his nectar!) he (or she I guess!) would even sit there with snow falling.
They are fun to watch!
jeanne, did you plant the roses in bottomless pots for control purposes? or another reason? I love gazebos, yours is gonna be nice.
WOW! You've been very busy again!! It will look beautiful once the Roses & Clematis fill in the arches. I like that you have pots at the bases of the gazebo that you can fill with flowers throughout the changing seasons. Very creative arrangement!!
Wow that is a great idea. It is going to look awesome covered in roses and cleamtis. Please do post pictures as things progress.
Jeanne, that's gonna be beautiful!!!
How did you get Faiydust?? It shows not avail till summer. I'm watchin to get that one!!

Debbie..I bought Fairy Dust from Debbie..I just guess it was available at the time I ordered it.. you should emailed her to see if she has any left??..
Vossner..the reason for the pots were esthetics and function..the bottom is cut out so the roots can eventually grow down into the soil.. Esthetically I wanted them to be be raised up and encompassed so not to have to worry about the grass growing into it..call it containment..LOL..yesterday, I had DH help me move my concrete birdbath that I have lugged to 3 different homes from Louisiana to my other house in Tomball to here in Willis...I will post a pic for yall to give me your idea..I created a "Bird Patio" a couple years ago and have feeders etc..the birds love it..I had thought of moving it onto that patio and either buying a new birdbath for the Gazebo or put a statue in the middle..here is my bird patio...so funny to see that pic..for I have done so much since then..a new pergola and my roses and clematis have filled in so much more!!...Jeanne
Looks awesome Jeanne! I love the criss cross effect. I have two arbors to put in this spring. How deep did you have to go to "plant" the arbors?
Thanks Venu...while I didn't take any pics of the process...I can show you how I did my Dome Pillars from J&P...since I live on the lake..it can get quite breezy here..remember hurricane Rita..LOL..even tho I am quite inland I still got 50-60 mile an hour winds and luckily I have mine secure with brackets and rebar in cement!!
these pics should help you understand what I did...I marked the area from the prongs of my Domed Pillar and then put in cement and shoved the one foot rebar into the cement..or you can just pound in the rebar ..it holds very well
Then I put hose clamps on the rebar and the feet and raise it up and put a leveler on it to make sure all is level and the feet are outta the soil..you'll need someone to help so they can tighten the hose clamps with a screw driver while you hold it up level

Wow....Thank you so much Jeanne. The catalogue described 8 inches of feet to put in the ground. Like you, I have hurricane winds to contend with (close to the Atlantic) and I knew 8 inches would not hold up. Your photos and descriptions are perfect. Thanks again!
I never thought of bottomless pots above the ground.Wow, no wonder your back was aching. That is a wonderful oasis you have started.
Thanks Banana..Hey where is Colleysville?..Jeanne
