I heard in a previous post that you can plant three or four fruit trees to a hole to keep them to a manageable size.
Does anyone do this? How far apart did you plant the trees?
I already know I'm buying dwarf trees (already ordered).
Would you do this method with dwarves?

He also recommends summer pruning to keep trees small.
I have many trees planted in a variation on the 4-per-hole, I have hedgerows of trees spaced 3' apart (and other spacings). I have five years experience with it and so far I am happy with it. It requires more pruning, both in the summer to reduce vigor and dormant pruning to keep the trees from growing into each other. Below is a picture of around 200 trees in rows in my backyard.

I planted my Pawpaw trees only about 2ft apart. They grow this way naturally in the woods so I figured it would be okay to plant them this way. They seem happy so far.
