Just got my Parks Spring catalog in and noticed a dwarf indoor avacado...I'd love to plant one but not so in love with the 50.00 price take plus shipping has anyone purchased one? Have a seed? Tell me enough about it to talk me into it? LOL

I tried that one twice and failed...I won't waste any more money on it. UNLESS I had the perfect growing conditions or a very regulated greenhouse...

In zone 9a you might very well suceed with an outdoor avocado, especially the hardier Mexican type. Mexicola Grande is a good possibility.

I went to the Houston Urban Harvest fruit tree sale in January, and the Mexican avocadoes were sold out in minutes... only limited availability because they're fairly new here, I think. Only those who were there at 8:00 am in line for 1 1/2 hrs got them! Maybe next year - but then I'd have to move the mandarin or the blood orange trees that I bought instead! www.urbanharvest.org has information on it. It's a beautiful tree.
