horseradish

Severn, MD

Started with 4 cuttings of root about 4 years ago. Bugs ate all the leaves so I did not harvest in the fall after the frost. THAT WAS A MISTAKE! By the next harvest, the roots were over 2 foot long and 3-4 inches round. What a bear to dig out. Just harvested this year's batch and I put 11 crowns back in for next year. This got me thinking. What if I got 3 foot sections of 6" PVC pipe, slice them in half lengthwise, zip tie the 2 sides back together, fill with dirt and put in the ground about a foot. When time to harvest, pop the pipes out of the ground, cut the zip ties, open up the pipe and harvest. Any thoughts?
