Readyville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm in Tall Bearded Country. There are a few of the others in my beds too, but over 90% of the irises I grow are TBs.

Oro Valley, AZ(Zone 9a)

Here in southern Arizona,
I grow mostly TB's,
a few BB's.
some arilbreds, &
some Louisiana's.
(Spurias grow well here too, but I don't grow any of those.)

I have mainly species, spurias, SDBs, a few TBs (50 or so) LAs that come in for the winter, various other irids and all the ZA irids I can get my paws on.

How you keeping your are chrysographes alive in MN

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

I must say, I am proud of that chrysographes, even though it doesn't always look the best.

I am building a theory that DRY in the winter for most perennials is a good thing, and the evidence is mounting. My first chrysographes, bought as a plant, lived through one winter in a normal part sun garden to bloom the following summer, never to return again.

The second one, pictured here, I got as a seedling that someone in our MN Rock Garden Society had started. It was labeled as "Iris clarkei or sintenesii". I think if the grower knew it was chrysographes, she (or he) wouldn't have donated it to our sale with such a cheap price (50 cents). Anyway, where I have it now is in full sun, with very good drainage. It was large enough last year to do some surgery, and I started some new plants to put in a new garden with a little bit of shade, and cooler, yet still very good drainage. I think it will do better there.

While I wouldn't be surprised that growing it from a seedling aided in its survival, I suspect the largest contributor is its genetics. And unless you know the provenance, it's a hit and miss kind of thing for trials.

so if I left it in the garden and allowed sharp drainage it should live through the winter?

Peachland B.C., BC(Zone 5a)

Mine are mostly TBs.
Does any one in Zone 5 or colder have Lovely Senorita. And how does she grow for you.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

I think chrysographes should do fine in your zone, avmoran.

Brewster, MA(Zone 6b)

Overwhelmingly TB historics here, with a small handful of non-historic TBs.

A single bed of tangled siberians that I keep trying to make happier, but actually make more unhappy.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Just TB and MTB's but I plan to venture out into other types little by little, especially arilbred. Apparently we have a good climate for arilbreds.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

What the heck is ZA? .....Inanda?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

ZA = South Africa. I collect all the south african wild flowers I can find.

inanda whoi grew up there
