Since our last thread was getting so long and slow to load, I have started a part II.
Here is the link to part I. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/674677/
There are lots of good tips, pictures of Bird and animal, and other cool things,
And a lot of laughs contributed by
The good folks here on the Gardening for Wildlife Section.
Visitors to My Garden.....(continued)
As this is the first post in this new /continued thread.
I`ll try to find something New.
OK, I just found this on the front veranda.
What is unusual for me is it`s size.
The camera lense was 1/2 inch away.
The reason it is out of focus is
He was moving so fast out of Macro range.

Wow he Is tiny Ginger!
When I first saw it I thought it was a bit of dirt off my shoe.
Then it started moving.
Hee hee!! Moving dirt!! That's what my says all the time.
Well disguised. HAH!! LOL. Unless you are using a zoom I can see them real well. Especieally their ears. LOL. Cute ears too. I see at least 2 dogs there TRYING to hide but not doing too well with you there.
I have noticed the threads at Gardening for Wildlife.
Have drama tickly slowed since the new Bird thread started.
How anyone can see anything in that mess of a tree is beyond me. LOL. I mean mess in a good way too.
Yeah, the drama is gone....for now!!! LOL

This is what camouflage is all about.
Ginger,
This forum just turned into Gardening for Wildlfe except birds. Don't expect much activity here anymore.
It's just as well for me. My house is getting to the point where I need to spend all of my spare time after work and weekends working on the new house. My Purple Martins, Bluebirds and Tree Swallows will need me once a week, or more, starting in March. Since House Sparrows are a problem at this location I'll be posting about the site on boards that allow freedom of speech, like my board and the PMCA website. My land in northern Michigan will need attention starting in May and I'll have three weeks in July and August set aside for Trout and Salmon fishing. I wish that I didn't have to work for a living so I had time for all of this!
I'll be posting about the site on boards that allow freedom of speech,
Amen to that.
When I First Joined DG. I had 13 on My Watch lists.
I was sensured on a few of them, Posts removed,
Threads removed, Told I was a liar. and a few other things.
Well I removed my self from 9 of the watch list & I won`t go back there.
I`m only on 4 chat Forums now.
And spend a lot more time on other Web Sites.
I disagree that this forum will not have any bird talk in it. This forum will be what we, that attract wildlife to our properties, make it. I will be sharing photos of any birds I see on my property, here, in Gardening for Wildlife, because that's what I'm doing. I'm into so much more than simply birdwatching I want to share why that bird came here, what plant brought it in etc.
terryr
I fully agree with you .
As you can see I have been adding to both Forums.
And I will continue to do so.
After all this is where I started.
I have a question about what you all think would be the best shrubs ( I couldn't do medium or large trees) to attract Waxwings. I know their in my area but have never seen one. Is there 1 or 2 types of shrubs you consider to be their favorites? Thanks for your help!
pelletory, you'll get a lot more info if you post the above as a new topic! I'm not sure, I do know they like cedars, but otherwise?
What about ninebark maple? I can't remember how big one gets but I know its native and that wildlife love it.
Thanks everyone. I posted this Cockatoo story in the other forum but its so sweet I want to make sure everyone sees it. Scroll down to see whole story.

Yeah, I saw it and loved it.
That was kewl pelletory,
Nerang is 15 mins drive from the Gold Coast.
Took longer to load than read.
Hey pelletory, if you start a new thread... let me know the link. I have a really great book that wasn't all that expensive titled Wildlife & Plants- A Guide to Wildlife Food Habitats for North America. I don't recall who the author is off hand but I'm going to go and dig it out for you. Digging it out is no easy task so either later toninght or tomorrow sometime I should hopefully find it. I know a few off the top of my head would be native Dogwoods, native Hawthorns, and native Viburnum but I know there are more because I've seen them around my Black Cherries. They like the berries of Red Cedar and they also will nest in that tree so if you have room for one of those, might be a good idea. You are east of the Rockies but I'll try to narrow it down a little bit to favorites for you. Cedar Waxwings are mostly frugivorous which means they prefer fruits and berries but I know they eat insects also. Which kinds of bugs are yummiest to them I'd have to look up for you. This is not a bird I see at my birdfeeders but I have a girlfriend who sets out apple slices on her patio table and she claims they come like clockwork.
Thanks so much Equil. Take your time looking for that book. Unfortunately theres no room for another tree so shrubs would be the only option.
I've got the book in my hand. I screwed up. It's titled "American Wildlife & Plants- A Guide to Wildlife Food Habitats". The authors are Martin, Zim, and Nelson. I already found that I need to go to page 158 so I guess I'm on a roll were it not for the fact that I'm hungry. Be back.
Awesome! How many of them do you normally get passing through?
Half a dozen a year.
More if there’s bush fires.
Now how cool is that?! Imagine looking out your window and seeing that up in the tree! You live in a truly awesome place ginger.
I love those cute little koala bears!!
Hi mrs_colla
That first Pic is a beauty.
Because I use a digital camera ,they are very slow to start.
I don`t get any on the wing Pics.
So you have done extremely well to capture that bird in flight.
Pic #2 We call them legless lizards over here in Australia.
That`s another good close up Pic. Kell
I'm from the Midwest and rarely get the chance to see those Slender Salamanders other than at Herp Shows. That's a real nice salamander. I don't know which one it is but it looks like maybe it's a Batrachoseps. Thanks for the photo. Where are you relocating him to? Do you have quite a few around you or was this just a lucky isolated incident?
I loved this thread! I had it bookmarked and wondered what happened to it!
Post more critters from Down Under Ginger!
Thanks Equilibrium ,
Feel like I`ve been given the kiss of life .
I buy my Net time by the 5 hr blocks ,
And I`m about to get booted , so I`ll add some pics tomorrow .
Great story you added on the WHAT ARE YOU thread . Kell
