Glad to share them. Aren't they cute? DH would take pictures while he was at work and post them on the company email for all the employees to see! He had fun with them. They weren't scared of him at all as long and he moved slowly.

Some mitey wonderful shots, Sheila ..

It simply amazes me, how the Swallows are able to construct their 'mud dauber' adobe nests!
Is/was there a lil sumthin' .. that stuck/poked out from the wall .. to hep hold the nest into place, in gettin' it started -?-

No it was just the stucco type texture that they started with.

I love the Barn Swallows! Every year they build nests in the four houses around mine (2 beside, 2 across) but not mine! (I think because I'm outside too much) But I don't feel left out because every morning they line up on my gutters and chat! My cats go nuts because they are flying in and out of the porch and sitting right where they can see them from the window.

Last year one of the two that nest next door died. It was just laying there on the porch (house was vacant) and the mate sat at the nest alone for days. It was so sad!

I can't wait for them to come back!

That is sad, but maybe he had young in the nest and was sticking around to take care of them.
