well that's no fun!

Wow, how interesting. I understand the desire to continue the species but what good it would do with male only colonies? You would think that nature would take care of providing at lease one female, wouldn't you? Nature is fascinating.

They might mate with their mother or perhaps just wait around hoping for females to show up from somehwere.

I have kept and bred tropical fish in the past and had a female turn into a male! And I think there are some fish species that only exist as female but breed with a different specie's male!

very interesting Professor!

there are also 'sneaker' males that will maintain female coloring/morphology in order to hang around a dominant male's territory and mate with his harem!

I used to concentrate mostly on African Rift Lake Cichlids but also had some neotropical cichlids as well as some odd non-cichlid fish here and there. Very cool breeding/parental behaviors.

Really enjoyed the astronomy images, especially the number 1 image. Wow!

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yeah, I'm always running across 10 best this or 15 best that, but the Saturn image alone was worth posting. I also think the space station silhouetted against the sun was neat.

I may have posted this link in the past. Nice photomicrography. Select a subject, then click on an image - if there are different magnifications, there will be a 'slide show'. Be sure to select zoology image 4. 4 levels of magnification of butterfly wing scales!

here's a very challenging puzzle-type game (navigate the character through difficult circumstances)

also, I have a coupla suggestions for any of you who need malware programs. I have been VERY happy with the free version of AVG (from grisoft). It has blocked 4-5 viruses here at home and even found 2 at work that Norton missed!

http://www.avgfree.com/doc/1

And I also use AdAware from lavasoft (I realize AVG has an anti-spyware program too, I just have no experience with that one - I'm sure it would be fine). If you have never run a spyware program, be prepared to be shocked (shocked!) at how many tracking cookies it cleans up the first time you run it!

Carl

Make sure to update them and run them often.
