I have what I think is closed gentian. It is blooming now. Does anyone know what the seeds look like and when they are ripe?
Thanks for your input,
Brenda
gentian seeds
Brenda - I have closed bottle gentian, and I have collected the seeds. They are really tiny seeds, and lots of them in one of the dried flower pods. I let them dry on the plant until they are brown, and then I carefully shake them into a dish. The pods open and the seeds flow. If they don't open on their own, you can help them out. I think they need to be refrigerated before you plant them. They are such a gorgeous flower. Have you had any luck by now getting some seeds to germinate?
