ground cover for iris beds

Charlevoix, MI(Zone 4b)

pollyk, I don't have any really good closeup pics of the variegated ones. I will post what I have. Click on the thumbnails and the pics will get bigger.

And you are correct, it's "Baby Sister" not "little Sister"!! The Baby Sister sibs are the only ones that I have a picture of in bloom.

MsKatt, Love the dinosaurs! Really cute!
You have a nice flower bed. I need to start spacing mine plants farther apart, as you have.
Thanks for the pics.

Thanks Mary! My bed is neatly spaced ONLY because it was brand new when I took that picture. Last summer was our first summer in this house.

Wasn't sure what you were talking about when you mentioned dinosaurs! I had to go back and check. I must have uploaded those accidentily. My 8 yo boy LOVES to set up Jurassic Park scenes and take pics. I keep a separate folder for him, lol. Whoops! The dinosaurs always seem to find themselves in my flowers!

Oh MsKat, it was cute, mixed in with the flower pics. lol
I have an 8 yr and 6 yr old sons myself, so I can relate! lol

Your garden is lovely. Maybe this spring you can post pictures of some of the others ones for us to help identify. Love your porch!

WOW. learn something each day. Knew I had dwarf german iris & dwarf lilies & dwarf daylilies---dwarf Siberians are a new one on me.

Do you think the irises you got from the older lady's yard might be TB's? Have you seen any of them flower?

Charlevoix, MI(Zone 4b)

Constance22, I don' t know much about irises and i don't know what TB means ...tall bearded? I'm not sure. When they bloom this year, I will take pics. I want to get a hold of her again and see if she needs more beds cleaned out!

I took Wanda's advise and planted my iris in mounds in my daylily bed...they don't need mulch but the raw dirt doesn't loook so good, Soooooooooo......I am planting moss rose or portulaca, both drought tolerant at their feet.....any low growing sedum might do as well.

Brewster, MA(Zone 6b)

Yep, Tall bearded. Your new stash is intriguing . . . you never know what you might have until they bloom . . .

I'm still amazed at dwarf siberians. Those hybridizers have been very busy.
