Here is a plant that showed up in my back yard, unable to tell what it was although it is very pretty.
Anothner South Jersey mystery...
It looks like some kind of Columbine, Aquilegea
It's a delphinium (same plant family as columbine, the buttercup family) and it could be one of the D. chinense hybrids -- they have that open cluster of flowers instead of the tightly packed spikes of typical garden delphiniums. D. chinense are hardier, so perhaps it's self-sown from a garden escape?
or, check out Delphinium elatum,,,
did that just come up by itself? Beautiful..I have been looking for them but can't find a source.
