In my search to find someone with seeds for the Cleome lutea plant, I came across this seed site. http://www.nps.gov/plants/sos/bendcollections/index.htm
Just place your mouse over the seed picture to get the name of the flower.
The pictures of the seeds are the best I have come across, Not to crazy about the fact the names don't show with the picture, But at least they do show up when you place the arrow on the pic. Clicking on the seed picture, enlarges the image...
The 2 links at the top of the page don't work, but the one at the bottom does.

edited to say, there are 461 different ones and they are in alphabetical order.

Came across this seed info site
cegoins, that is a great site, no doubt about it. Our gubmint does so many great things, they're just hard to find sometimes!!!
Thanks Connie, added that one to my favorites!
Here's a couple of more places I've found to help with seed ID:
http://www.frsa.org/plateindex.htm#Alphabetical%20index%20by%20family%20and
There are multiple ways to search (alphabetical, common name, etc.)
And this site (everyone may already know this one, but I'm a newbie)
http://plants.usda.gov/index.html
It has seeds, seedlings and a lot of other info, although it isn't consistant across the database; some species have more photos than others. You can search by common name or scientific name.

Ceogins, did you find a source for Cleome lutea? I can post a link if you need.
No I didn't, there was one site that showed they were selling it, and when I called to order it, they told me they didn't have any and hadn't had any in two years, Why they didn't put out of stock next to it is beyond me... If you know where I can find it, please post the link. THANKS
Connie
Was it this site? http://www.nativeplantandseed.com/seeds2.asp
They aren't in the Garden Watchdog, so I can't give a recommendation. I ordered them from www.westernnativeseed.com a few years ago, but it isn't listed now. It can be tricky to germinate and the seeds are very short lived.
Agrinerd, the nativeplantandseed.com is the site I called, and they don't have the seeds, haven't had them in two years, but they still have it showing on their site as in stock, I wouldn't risk ordering anything from them... It is hard to say if you would get a refund or get stuck with some other seed from them... 2 YEARS is a long time not to put OUT OF STOCK on something or to remove it all together....
Do you have any seeds of this plant at all. I would love to give them a try.
Connie
No guarantees on them, but I'd be glad to send you some. They're about 5 years old and may not come up. It's worth a try.
Great thanks, I will give them a very good try :o) I really appreciate it.
sending you a dmail
Connie
Cool. They are a stubborn lot. Make sure you research them well before sowing.
I will,
Connie
That site is just so neat! Thanks for putting a link up
