Moby, llilyfan and I attended the North American Lily Convention in Wisconsin this July. I was in waaay over my head , rubbing elbows with famous hybridizers and lily experts. Almost too much for this addled brain to handle.
We visited quite a few lily gardens including Flowergod's beautiful yard. Everytime I spyed a spotted or streaked lily I loved, it turned out to be a "Cocker"--hybridized by Ruth & Hugh Cocker of Rochester, Minnesota. I was lucky enough to meet this talented couple but found out they were selling their farm and retiring into town. Since I coveted their lovely lilies, I arranged for them to randomly pick out 20 to send to me in Iowa.
The lilies have arrived, but I don't remember all their colors! I found pics of 3 in our Plant Database. Does anyone else have pictures of Cocker lilies so I can match with the names?

Cocker lilies, anyone?
You lucky bod.
Give me the names & I'll try to find the pix. NEXT WEEK - digging & bagging this week for our bulb sale.

Great! I ordered all speckles & bi-colors from them plus some seedlings. I wasn't there, so I let them "tag' whatever they thought I would enjoy.
I need pics of these "named"lilies they sent:
Anita Gail
Andrea Kay
Beverly Ann
Carolyn Marie
Dark Star
Eric
Randa Lou
Mainiac has a picturea of Anita Gail. Maybe she has more Cockers.

There is a picture on my Photobucket page of Anita Gail. See the thread "Please visit my garden." I have a picture of Dark Star and ERic at home (I am at work now--lunch!)
Thank you Moby & Maniac--that narrows it down a bit.... :)
Great pics! Now I can have an idea where to put them so they show well with my other lilies.
Moby, I love that red one.
The Cockers picked out several seedlings for my garden. It will be interesting to see how they bloom next summer too.
Looks like all of these (or most) will be available at the NSLS Bulb Sale on the 14th,
Wanda, I have an old Victory Garden book called Masters of the Victory Garden and the Cockers are the ones they profiled regarding lilies. I thought that name sounded familiar when you mentioned this summer, but it wasn't until you posted again that I decided to look... ;)
Diann
Beaker, where did you get the pics showing the lilies that they are selling?
Thosw were Mainiac's. She said they were from a friend.
I have a lot of pictures of Cocker seedlings I will TRY to post them I'm still not very good at this. I went over this summer and tagged a few that I wanted. They were all later blooming asiatics. I was also there 3 years ago and have some of their seedling from then. This is from this year. I don't know the number on this one. but I will next year when it blooms.

Okay. I'm stupid and I will admit it. Flowergod just explained to me vs landline that the Cockers sold me unregistered seedlings marked by "cross numbers" ( requested them to choose whatever they had that was spotted or dashed) . Each cross can have multiple babies in a big range of colors and shapes. My 83-223 could be vastly different from Sandy's 83-223. Isn't this fun?
Sandy, when you get those pics all shrunk down like we talked about, posting will get MUCH easier for you! :)
I wish I could have seen the Cocker fields in bloom--it must have been incredible!
Ps. I've seen some of the "Cocker daughters", they do NOT look like Tucker! :)
But we love Tucker just the same. :)
Tucker is the cutest lily I've ever seen. He's adorable, how old is he? does he like to hang out in the garden with you? My dog Lucky loves going out in the garden.
Maureen
Yes, Tucker is my gardening companion. He just turned two!
