Curing cuttings

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

How do you know which kinds of cuttings need to be "cured" before attempting to root?

Experimentation, experience, and learning from other people who have been there, done that is how I've learned a lot about propagating. A good propagation book might be an excellent place to start. The internet, on-line forums, magazines, etc. would also be great resources.

As a general rule (if there is such a thing), anything succulent or bleeds a lot after cutting should probably be cured before planting. I'm sure there are lots of exceptions to any rule though.
