Winter grass?

I am wondering if there is a forage type grass...not decorative, that I could broadcast seed now-ish (no tilling, it's existing horse pasture) to give the horses something to do all winter long.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Do you have a Southern States near you? They could tell you what to plant and sell you the seed.
