green plums

Campobello, SC(Zone 7a)

I have no clue what these are, but my boss, who's Turkish (or a Turk, or from Turkey, no clue the right way to say it) buys these green plums from some exotic grocery store. He is always giving me strange things to taste and I brought these home for my daughter to try. She absolutely loves them. They seriously just tasted like not-yet-ripe plums to me. Does anyone have any clue what kind of plums these are and if they can be grown in zone 7b?
Thanks,
Kristen

It is possible that it is a Green Gage or at least one of the Gage plums. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/01/dining/01GREE.html?ex=1251864000&en=e4cc762021939add&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greengage http://www.greenmantlenursery.com/fruit/plums.htm They are self fertile European plums and grow just about anywhere plums are grown.

Thank you Farmer Dill! I'm going to pass these on to him to see if they are them.
