My grapes, some purple variety, are being taken over clump by clump. It started about a week ago.
Please help.
Do you recognize the disease?
What is the treatment?
Many, many thanks.

Here's a picture of one of the infected clumps.
What is wrong with my grapes?
Just a standard fungus. The cure is to start spraying fungicide, but it is too late now to start. Next year, start about when the flowers fall off. This fall clean up any grapes around, and take the leaves away. Any of that stuff left on the ground around the grapes breeds fungi. Look up botrytis, that could be the name of your rot. Very common, BTW. Call your county extension service, listed under USDA, Cooperative and Extension Service too. They will have good local info most likely.
It also could be black rot, botrytis doesn't kick in until the grapes are starting to sweeten up. Same treatment as Pete mentions, and if its bad this year I would do multiple sprays next year including one just after shoots appear.

I removed as many infected grapes as I could find. The others seems to be developing OK.
I bought Captan (recommended by my extension office) and I will be ready next year.
Thank you all!
