After ordering bareroot palms a number of times, and 'rescuing' some local palm seedlings that were growing in inopportune places (like in between the petiole boots on other trees) it is my strong suspicion that soaking the roots for several hours before planting helps quite a bit with the transplant shock. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

Soaking bareroot palms/transplants
I agree. I also found that placing them in the greenhouse under indirect light helped with the shock. We ordered some Chamaedorea that came bareroot. Unfortunately they were placed outdoors and really needed the "ideal growing conditions" to recover.
