Does Borage Root?

Chapel Hill, NC(Zone 7a)

I had some borage growing from seed in my window box. Then we had one of those freak, heavy summer storms. The borage got bent over and the leaves got a bit buried in mud (it had about two true leaves). I went and unburied the leaves so that it could stand back up, and in the process, I snapped the stem.

I know that tomatoes and basil will put out new roots if I just bury what is left of the stem in the soil. And I buried the borage that way, too. But I was wondering if that was a lost cause and I should pot up a new batch of seeds?

Hey InfamousJ~

I'm kinda thinking it won't root in the dirt...it has such fat stems and leaves. But maybe it will root in water. And if you are growing borage for the first time, you'll never have to plant it again~lol. I'm forever pulling volunteers out of my garden! I just let some grow and pull the rest out. Those flowers are such an irresistable blue and the bees are crazy about them....
