Am looking to repot a Calamondin plant I recently bought. Am currently using Miracle Grow Moisture Control for my other plants, but I've never tried to raise a citrus plant before. Any suggestions on what type of potting soil to use?
Also, currently live in a small apartment and have all container plants, but I would like to see some growth on this plant. What size container should I go with to allow it to flourish? Some might say "the bigger the better" but I don't want to go overboard if I don't have to. Right now it's in a 1 gallon pot.
Calamondin soil
I use coconut husk chips for all of my citrus. There is a thread on the greenhouse forum with details on how to prepare them. Any potting mix may work at first, but the peat based mixes are prone to compaction and that is a problem for citrus.
Do not over pot, particularly if you switch mixes. You can partially wash out the old mix when you pot up if you are very careful not to damage the roots.
