Snatched some Prairie Smoke seeds these past couple days. LOL. I sowed some already and am saving some for later.
I sowed them in Promix in paper pots & covered them with vermiculite. I placed the paper pots in a baking pan with clear plastic top - holes in bottom and top and left the pan in bright shade.
What actually is the best way to sow these seeds and when?
Do they need stratification?
I had better stop snatching those seeds before I get busted, though. :-P Boy are they cute and tempting. :-D
Geum triflorum - how to
Geum bulgaricum, rivale, triflorum, and urbanum , Sow at 20ºC (68ºF), if no germination in 3-4 wks, move to -4 to +4ºC (24-39ºF) for 2-4 wks
From Tom Clothier site.
Hmmm. OK. Thanks. I will have to try that next spring then. It's too warm right now for that.
Thanks.
I simply surface sowed them in damp peat/soil mix, & most of them germinated. They were placed in a sunny location as well. Mine were stored in an unheated garage for the Winter, so they had a sort of stratification. So far the seedlings are doing very well!
Julie
Thank you very much, Julie. I will try this method this winter.
