comfrey cover crop?

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

I had this idea to plant comfrey as a cover crop and then pull it up and make comfrey tea to fertilize plants... or just plow it under in the spring...would this work?

It does make good liquid manure. Very invasive!!

Janie:
I have a plot in a community garden; someone planted comfrey a few years ago it has taken over the entire garden.
I've been working for 2 years to get rid of it. I've dug tap roots almost 3 feet deep. It is VERY INVASIVE; I wouldn't plant comfrey if it was the last plant on earth.

I hope I've gotten my point across.

Point taken, Paul... thanks a bunch for the warnings, louisa and Paul. HaVe to try something else.

I have an intense problem with common purslane (it's everywhere) and was looking for something to shut it out... but I don't want to shut out everything else!

Thanks, you two!

God bless,
Janie

Janie;
Have you ever tried Buckwheat as a cover crop?
I use it almost every year I till it under just before it goes to seed. It adds alot of nitrogen to the soil.
