I go down to the interior of Mexico quite a bit and to Costa Rica. I have seen these palms that are like a fan, not the fronds, but the entire palm tree. In other words, if it fell down, it would lie flat. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks!
Does anyone know this palm?
Is this what you are referring to? http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2068/index.html It's commonly called the traveler's palm, although it is not a true palm.

Hey Chris - Yowsa! That's it. Thanks for coming through for me.
Happy to help. They are really rather stunning. Especially when you see a large one.
Hey chunx I got a nice one in a 24" box. If you want one let me know.

Dave - Thanks for the offer but I really don't have any place to put one. I was just really curious as to what they were since I never see any here.
No worries chunx. I have a picture of mine with the trunk just starting to form in my diary as well as some photo's of some of my other palms/plants. Go and check it out!!
