Spring Bulbs - pictures & discussion: Part VI

somewhere, PA

I am taking the liberty of starting part VI. I've got pictures but haven't downloaded them yet.
Boy - we had a glorious weekend and I'm a happy and rather sore gardener right now.

I finally got my pictures downloaded. I need a new camera! But here they are... first the tulips on the
top part of my hillside along the driveway. Tulip Flair.

And a shot that includes a daphne that rarely blooms (I think its not really hardy in my zone but the folliage is lovely
and it smells just wondeful now.) You can see the anemone, hyacinth and fading crocus under the dogwood in the
mid-ground.

And a close up of the Tulip Flair and one of my favorites: anemone blanda.

And the daffodils along our fence line. These were here when we bought the place - struggling in the grass &
weeds. They look a bit like Rip Van Winkle but have more green in the ruffley flowers. I'll take a close up shot
when the fully open. I was just too excited to wait. :-)

Tammy your place is lovely, looks to be well isolated. I love the way you have made use of the natural slope for the tulips and anemones. Your Narcissus look to be in full bloom, my few Rip van Winkle is also. It will be them if they look like it, most of mine have lots of green on them but it's difficult to photograph, the yellow just glares at the camera and some of it turns white.

I did manage to get a bud opening showing the green, there is lots of green on the inner petals too

Tammy, what lovely pictures!

I put a daphne in last fall ('Carol Mackie') and it looks like it made it. It's got buds. I had read that they can be quite picky about location, but it looks like I did okay.

Oooooh, Annapet..........so there IS a brug in my future! *jumping up and down* I've never had one and am anxious to try it! :-)

This is not the best picture, but I wanted to try to show how each of these lovely cups starts from bright yellow with a salmon pink ruffle and goes through dark peach to palest peach.

They are very pretty, look like Salome. I have some but I put them in the ground and they seem to have disappeared!

Narc. 'Carlton' divides like mad.
Did I mention that this garden is what, four years old? Most things were not put in the first year...

This is how it gets t be that way. You are looking at seedlings. See them? They could have thier first flowers (1 or a few) next year, and be mature the year after.

These Orienpets were taller than me last year; they promise to be massive this coming year. Like great red artichokes the size of your fist...

This 'Jetfire' Clump was sparse the first year, increading at least 50% each year. SHe had picked exactly 34 flowers before I took teh shot.
