Check out what I found in my garden! I researched it and it is a Luna Moth. It is one of the wildest insects I've ever seen!

Sidney
Alright what attracts these pretties?
;)
I wish I knew, this was the first of two I had ever seen. The other was at the local elementary school. I dont ever remember seeing a cocoon ever so could only assume they hide really good in that stage, either that or they look so much like the hosta wich are the closest plants to where I found this guy.
FYI: They're endangered.
Wow, I didnt know that. Now I feel honored it picked my home now. Thanks KC.
Ha - I think you are fooling us. Hanging up those panty hose and skivies like that. You should be ashamed! LOL Ed
Trees are the attractant.
The Luna Moth doesn't eat that I know of....
Just flies, mates, lays eggs and dies.

I'm going out to buy some persimmon trees.

Barbara Kingsolver's novel, "Prodigal Summer", has lots of references to Luna moths...
