Quoting:
Hi, my name is Rachel. I just discovered computer gardening. Duck and Gretta(the hosta experts) told me how to get started. I don't know how to start a "thread". I am still learning about computers.
I would love to hear from other plant lovers! Rachel

INCREDIABLE other bored gardeners to talk to! It feels like Christmas!
I am 43 and live in Greenfield Indiana. My grandmother introduced me to gardening. I have wonderful memories. Probably that is why I am hooked.
I have 2 dogs and a new home with a huge yard. I can't wait to attack it! My truck is ready to dump metric meters of mulch on it.

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

It really is an awesome place,,,you Will become addicted as most of the rest of us are,,,lol

oooo, new home huge yard,,,,= FUN.

Kelly

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

It is so fun to have a new yard to landscape. I get to plant and arrage things the way I like. Wish I had enough money to do it right away.

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

Actually, I am happy that I can't do the yard all at once. I think slowing down and enjoying the process of developing the yard for years is better.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Rachel,

You and I are rowing the same boat. Or should I say weeding the same bed? ROFL.

We just bought this house 18 mos ago, so I have many plans but little money to carry them out. Such is life.

Have fun exploring the Forums! I'm betting we won't see you for a while as you get lost in them. *chuckle*

mg

(Kelly, I'll deal with *you* later!)

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

how many forums are there?

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Right now there are 173 Forums total.

Staggering isn't it? We started out with one and just last month added the whole "Home Talk" area.

mg

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

Welcome, Rachel! I have a new home too. Moved into it in May of last year. We managed to get a few trees in. I've been plotting and scheming and coming up with different ideas all winter. I'm sick of looking at catalogs now though, and am ready to get out in the dirt. Too bad it's not a couple of months later than it is! You'll love DG!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Welcome Rachel,
I'm more harmless than MG - I more promise!
Yeah I think we are all a little restless this time of year. I wish you well in your new adventure, be sure to post photos of your progress.
Al

Welcome Rachel! We're all just sitting aorund waiting for the cold to go and the gardens to wake up.

The number of forums here is enough to put a person on overload. Pick ones you like & mark them as favorites (go to My Info on the second bar at the top of the page) so new action pops up in front of you each day. I lurk mostly in daylilies, iris & lilies--all my favorite perennials. I pop into a few others like Midwest gardening when I have extra time..

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

Hi Rachel!

I'm in Rockford, IL, just south of the Wisconsin state line.

Congrats on finding the coolest gardening site on the web! You'll find lots of useful information on here. Take your time and stroll around. Like Kelly said - if you see a thread that interests you, jump right in. Like Al said, we love to see photos, so feel free to post them.

Don't believe MG or Al, none of us are completely harmless (except me, of course), especially this time of year. We are all a tad stir crazy by now, and the warm weather last month gave us dreams of spring. Counting down the weeks to last frost here!

Hi Rachel. Where in the world is Greenfield? I've never heard of it. I live in Cayuga, which is about 45 minutes north of Terre Haute (since I know you're probably wondering where is Cayuga)

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

Cayuga? sounds like a desert to me. ummmmmmm guess I am hungry.

Greenfield in located in Indiana near the middle of the state. It is just off interstate 70 on the east side of Indianapolis.

Hey I need some help. I put some red fountain grass up for trade. But DG's plant file does not fit my plant. I can't find it in the file.

anyone know what is pinkish, 5 foot round, makes a fountain over a mound, gets over 5 foot tall and 5 foot wide, does not spread-its base just gets wider, has a shallow root system that is nearly impossible to divide. the individual roots remaind me of green onions. It thrives in zone 5a.

HINT: it is a grass

games aside, I really need to know what it is so I can check if people still want to trade.

thanks, Rachel

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

p.s.
I am not harmless either. Just try to ask those dead danalions. DEATH TO ALL DANALIONS

nice to met all of you
Rachel

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Careful Rachel, they will tempt you with hems and Wanda can teach you all about Iris, and next you know you'll be raiding across the border into Canada, and going to clandestine meetings where naked lady lilies are involved. Oh sometimes, it's a heck of a day in Dave's neighborhood.

No idea on your grass, that sounds beautiful. And I'm a long ways from the midwest, being on the high desert canyolands of Utah, but there's not a lot of us in the neighborhood so I roam all the forums on a hit and run basis.

Hi ladies, it's harder to find y'all since we divided up. ~Blooms /;-)

Greenfield, IN(Zone 5a)

I spent hours learning how to use DG yesterday. Glad to find your thread again.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Rachel,

You might want to purchase a few supplies before you venture into chat.

Snacks and drinks of course, chatting for up to 6 hours can take major refueling, but the most important thing you might need.....

mg,,,,
You are too funny,,,roflol

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

mg, up to your old tricks I see.
I hope you can make it to Iowa Round-up. Maybe we can get you on the Karaoke stage or something!
Bernie

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Bernie, I sing like a dying Moose, trust me, let's not and say I did, ok?

mg

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

I don't know,,,I think I'd pay to see that,,,,ah,,,lol

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

No charge!

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Bernie,
She might not do it if there is nothing in it for her. Hmmmmm, fill er up with adult beverages and offer her some money,,,that may do it to get her Karaoking (sp?),,,LOL

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

psssst...

Getting me drunk and offering me money isn't going to do it.

Getting me drunk and plying me with plants, well now, that's another story.

But just remember this. Getting me drunk first will only make me sound better to *me*. You might want to reconsider. And if a lovestruck moose shows up looking for his dying mate, I'm not going to be held responsible.

Any special requests?

mg
