Nursery Says Calla Lillies Only Bloom A Few Years. Truth?

House Springs, MO

A local nursery told me that my calla lillies have seen their better days - that they only bloom for a few years after someone takes them home. They mentioned that since they are sold so late in their bloom life cycle that you can only expect them to bloom 4, maybe 5 years.

Anyone have a comment on that?

My area pic below. Lots (too many?) but no blooms!

zenhog, I've got a white calla lily that was given to me as a piece of rhizome? tuber? over 10 years ago now, and it just gets bigger every year.
Some of the newer coloured calla lilies are treated with a chemical to induce bloom, and once the chemical wears off - you get lots of leaves, but no flowers.
Before I found the latter out, I'd do as the nurseries suggested, and dig them up (which is unnecessary here in 7b) and give them a rest, but nada!
