Hi everyone.
it is 01:45am in the UK, and I am still up trying to find some information on how to germinate xanthorhoea resinosa. If anyone has any experience or has had any success with this I would be very grateful for any advice.
I am going to go and sleep on it now.
I must say this is a great site, I think I need a week off work to explore it ;-)). not too sure the boss will agree though...
Thanking you all in advance.
Regards. Gizmoqueen.
Xanthorrhoea Resinosa - Germination help please!!
Gizmo...A "Hearty WELCOME TO DG!"
Glad you joined the DG Family! Hope to see you around the site!
As for your question...I'm not familiar with that plant by that name...I'll sure wait for others to bring on the answers though! (Ain't DG a wunnerful place!?)
Shoe.
It's probably worth a try to dmail those who have commented on it in the Plant Files. Good luck!

Hi gizmoqueen,
On this link, further down the page, there is reference to scarifying the seed with sandpaper: http://farrer.riv.csu.edu.au/ASGAP/APOL12/dec98-8.html
This link talks about "ashbeds" as a more active flowering & germination after a brush fire. Not sure if the ashes help though: http://www.biology.iastate.edu/intop/1Australia/Australia%20papers/FireEcologyEucalypts.htm
This is a link with smoke primer: http://www.angelfire.com/ab/ltpa/seed3.htm

Try this link for germination information but I'd still add a little ash to the soil sand on the surface. I'd still say it's probably an activator for germination.
Good Luck and.....hope you have lots of patience.
