My new shrub border

somewhere, PA

I started a shrub border last fall and am finally getting it in now.

I've been transforming a horse pasture into a garden room since
I moved to this place seven years ago. It was scrubby - filled
with burdocks & multi-flora rose. I dug out all the nasties, planted
along two fence lines, cleaned up the area around the natural
pond and planted that. Then I put in a formal rose garden in the
center. I planted a few trees to help the sense of enclosure. This
shrub border will finish up the major work for this area.

Here's a shot of the area last fall when I cut in the outline of the garden.
Its a shot looking into the "garden room" from the arbor we put up
a couple of years ago
