Pretty 'Fujishibori', Laurrie. Great photo.

Holy Smokes Janis, as I get up off of the floor.
What Blooms. You are sooooo right. They are incredibly beautiful.
Just LOVE that Pale Pink - and you don't remember where you got the seeds?

I'd like to know what this one is called too.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1759387
Looks similar to one I'm growing.
Do these have 'Blue Stars' or Purple?
Can't tell....

But then, DO these purpureas really have names, other than JC???
I've only seen them described by their color - as I do.

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Emma, they look purple to me. The color in them is great. I'm really hoping for some seeds, she has tons of unripe pods.

I have no idea where that pale pink came from *banging head off desk*

When I started growing the MG's this year, I had no idea it would turn into such an obcession LOL

Possibly I. imperialis Mix from Onalee.

Maybe I"ll write to her and ask

Hugs!

Laurrie

*down on knees ,beggin shamelessly*
LOL
Awesome pic

Emma I believe this http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1758982 is Hein no Izumi, but much lighter than the package.

Laurrie this bloom is georgeous!! http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1759380

Janis,
Your are hilarious!
Nothing like learning the hard way, huh?
I should write that book....lol

Ronnie,
Thanks for ID. Dee seems to think so too.
Such a beauty.

Goodlettsville, TN(Zone 6a)

No blooms here! I snapped this one back in July.
There were ten Star of Yeltas (uh, ...ten Stars of Yelta?...) growing on this section of fence _last_ year. A wave of them comes up after every good rain.

These are no problem since the lawn mower takes them out before they get too many true leaves.

So now you know the real reason why Tennessee is the Volunteer state.

Emma,
Yes, these Lavender Moonflower Vine blooms are nice. Photos do not do them justice.
I only wish that they would bloom earlier in the year. I started these indoors before the last frost and am only getting blooms this week. Hmmm.

Moby -The leaves on your Tanchou look to be somewhat different than the Akatsuki No Kaori and the Akatsuki No Hikari...

Janis - The neibhors blue purp looks like one of the many variations and shades of a 'purplish-blue' that come out of the purps...
The SOH looks like an interesting color and about as good as the SOH's seem to be at this point...
I have some older stock growing that started out heart shaped and just went tri-lobed on me...they haven't flowered yet,so I'm still optimistic...
The lavender bellflowers are an interesting color...I had them some years ago,but they just 'fell off the back burner'...
That Blue Fuji is the darker version that Sakata has marketed as Fuji No Sora...they have also put the lighter(!) blue one in their packets and on the websites over the past few years...The Chiaki and the Mai Sugata both have a type with a lighter and a darker throat...so,maybe the Fuji No Sora will have to be reffered to as the lighter or darker type as well...

Laurrie - I like that color comparison of the two different types off of the same vine...if you look at some of the hybrids that Dr.Yoneda has on his site, you can see that many of the patterned plants rarely show the same pattern coloration on blooms from the same day,and I very strongly believe that the same or similar type of pigment lability is present in alot of the JMG's that are showing up...the pigments are very enzyme dependent, and just like a person can have a sensation occur in a right leg or arm and not in the left leg or arm, because the localized metabolism is different...and even seemingly very minor metabolic differences in the plant tissues can cause different colored and patterned blooms on the same plant...not all of the types may be this color labile, but some will...

Emma - The Akatsuki No Tsuyu(or Tsiuyu) is "Morning Dew" or "Dew of the Morning"...that is what I was told they were several years ago from the person I know who has the most advanced language skills of anyone of my contacts in Japan...

Generally speaking I am finding the usage of the term picotee to be somewhat 'confusing'...to me a picotee has been a flower that shows both(!) a lighter edgeing and(!) the lighter stripes radiating out from the center...so,the yojiro types are picotees to me...the ones with the white edgeing are just that 'ones with a white edge or margin'...

All of the colors are fantastic(!)...

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

Ron,picotee in the flower world has referred to an edge that is a diferrent color than the base color of the flower. Not necessarily a white edge.I can't see why the definition should be altered for Morning glories to include spokes.
Are you saying that the Japanese exclusively use the term to describe blooms containing spokes in addition to the edge?
Gail

after a little research,I see 'fukurin' means margined, but can't find proper translation of 'picotee'

Joseph and Ron,
I saw this little monster thripe FLY onto this bloom.
He was inside and I shook him out and he flew right back.
I am only saying this because there was a question as to how they got to the plants, understanding there are many different kinds. This may be a different one, but hey, this IS TEXAS!
Also, I notice more of them now that I did in early spring.
