I would like to create more Butterfly Bush, I'm unsure exactly 'how'. And do I take soft wood cuttings or hardwood cuttings? Thanks , Jill
how do you propigate Butterfly Bush ?
Jill, I've rooted hardwood and softwood cuttings of butterfly bush and it was very easy. Just dip in rooting powder and stick it in a pot. I did some in late summer last year and they're blooming now. By late fall they had plenty of roots and that's when I planted them. Good luck, Neal.
I myself have never had any luck rooting them in pots....works best for me to take the cuttings and stick them in the ground around the mother plant....these seem to root very easily.
Thanks you two! Sounds like even 'I' can do this, I'll watch this thread and give you an update! Jill
Is this the right time to take cuttings?
Winnie
I did at this time last year, and all survived and even bloomed for me this year.....so it may not be ideal, but it worked :-)
