Coleus seed

On the Olympic Penin, WA(Zone 9a)

I have a Giant Exhibition Palisandra flowering at the moment. When do I start saving the seed or I should say how? I need some advice. Thank you for any help. Richard

Your coleus might not come true to seed but you might have some wonderfull surprises.
Actually, I am not an expert but it worked for myself: you wait untill the flowers and the seeds are dry. Look inside the dead flowers, you will see the tiny seeds, if they are green, you still have to wait. You can then pick the whole flower scape, let it dry and then shake it to make fall the ripe seeds.
Good luck!

You just about have to sacrafice the one you have to get seeds that may not come true to parent. When the plant sets seeds it dies. If you remove seeds before they are dried they wont mature. Deadheading restores life to the Coleus.
I am overwintering 20 varieties of coleus this November by taking cuttings or bringing in plants.
We have a great Coleus forum, http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/coleus/
We'd love to see you there.
