Too late to start seeds of not?
Margie, I think you need advice from someone in your zone. We are going into winter now. Jeanette, zone 5
You can sow these seeds after first frost date and indoor only when seeds germinate then transfer out side.

I'd plant half now, and half in the spring. Z9a, is possible you get bonus blooms.

Hi Margie,
I am a big fan of winter sowing. I plant seeds through October with no proble. Our freeze (little that it is) doesn't come until January, usually. You want your hollyhocks in this year, so next you'll get flowers. Columbines need a cold period which they'll get by winter sowing. Good luck!
