staghorn fern propagation

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

well... the trade has already been made, just need to know how to propagate a staghorn fern. This is what we have to work with. The basket is lined with sphagnum moss and added acidic rose dirt and anchored it with rocks. Was this the right thing to do??? Any suggestions for improvements?

Don't know much about them, but I do have one, it makes babies contstantly, which is the only way I know that you can propigate it, take off the babies as they grow, Mine is also planted in regular ol potting soil.

I believe the soil is wrong. It is an epiphyte and grows on bark, but not in it. Check out http://www.fernfactory.com/shop/staghorns.asp In the right hand column are links to very useful info. I saw one show that indicated you could tack it to a board with "goop" glue.

Yeah, I've heard they grow on bark too, Mine's doing excellent in potting soil, and producing babies all the time. LOL So I don't plan on changing anything with it.
