lilly beetles

Londonderry, NH

what do you do to get rid of this beetle?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

hi maxfield,
i use sevin. i know it is a tough chemical but there are no natural predators for the lily beetles, as of right now. so drastic measures must be taken. you have to spray both the top and bottom of the leaves, because that is where they lay there eggs. they lay there eggs only in the spring, those emerging now will just go underground until the spring. but get them now while you can. if left unchecked, i have heard someone tell here that they were eating the stalks before they were even emerging from the ground, when she hadn't sprayed the one year before.
good luck
