I have lived in Miami (on and off) for the last 16 years, and as a gardener I have found many different spots where interesting plants where sold at a fair price. I'd just like to know what good places I might not know about are out there, as well as everyone's input regarding unique nurseries in the area. For the most part, I have shopped for plants right along Krome avenue nurseries, as well as places within the area called 'horse country', which is nearby Kendall. If anyone is familiar with the area, I'd be great to get some insight...
Best South Florida Nurseries
Come a bit north and check out Jesse Durko's in Davie. It's the one place I can always count on to have something interesting!
in the redlands there is a place called "blooming good". i cant remember her name but boy did she have great stuff. i met them at a garden club meeting in tavernier. they were the speakers that day. i was so impressed, i went up to her place. make sure you get directions from her. you get so lost up there in those fields. debi
Olga:
You and I probably visit the same nurseries but here's a list of a few of my favorites:
Florida Colors Nursery http://www.floridacolors.com (owners Carol and Luke)
Plant Creations Nursery http://www.plantcreations.com (Ken)
Santa Barbara Nursery 20425 SW 177 Ave. 305-256-7577 (Joe Oves) This place looks like a tropical paradise!
Pine Island Nursery http://www.tropicalfruitnursery.com
Paradise Groves was my absolute favorite but it was sold when the Ritters retired. It is still there but with a new name. The address is 18800 SW 137th Ave. When I was there a few months ago, there were still some beautiful plants but some of them were being over taken by weeds...
Canterbury Farm & Nursery (Cindy David owner) 22351 SW 147th Ave. 305-257-3001. I went there briefly last month but didn't have a lot of time to look around.
The nursery Debi wrote about is Bloomin' Good Nursery 20905 SW 240th St. 305-248-0818, owner Delores Fugina. I haven't been to this nursery in a couple of years so I'm not sure if this information is current.
Ray's Nursery 18905 SW 177 Ave. 305 255-3589 http://www.raysnurserymiami.com
Richard Lyon's Nursery 20200 SW 134th Ave. 305-324-1100 http://www.rarefloweringtrees.com
