Ignorant me...

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

What type of lilies are these. Are they the Asiatics?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Probably. Do you have a name? They look very purple.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Nope. They came with the house. I didn't even know they were Lilies 'til I happened onto this Forum and saw the same leaf/stem pattern! My camera is doing crazy colors lately, don't know what's up with it. They are kind of a burgundy color. I will get photos when they bloom!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Good, then you can tell us all about them. :D

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

The foliage looks like asiatics. Can you take a picture of a flower close-up when they bloom ?

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I will be all over them! They are gorgeous. Each year they open and I am surprised anew by their beauty! (I still cannot believe I didn't know they were lilies.)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Are they as purpley as the buds appear? Oh, never mind ~ I'm just really excited to see them!

Oh COOL! Maybe...Coral Sunrise...?

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I was thinking maybe Royal Sunset?

Here's a close-up...

It's so gorgeous I can hardly stand it! The insode is a guava colur, and the outer edges of the petals are almost burgundy. I am so in love with these!

Today's photos, for some reason, are truer to color. I think you can see the orange and burgundy a little better in these photos...

This one is from a different area, where it's a bit shadier.

Stunning!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you! I am totally smitten!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Sequee ~ you are absolutely correct, it does look like Royal Sunset. I realized that as I was on the road to Iowa and had no way to correct my misinformation. They really are stunning! Here is a pic of mine for comparison.

What ever they are, they are sure pretty!

They are definitely Asiatics (you're right about noticing the stem/leaf pattern) and they are all lovely. We have a wide selection and so many people commented on them. You can add to your present collection from many places like Dutch Gardens (free catalog: 1-888-821-0448) and so many other places. Check the Garden Watchdog to be sure of who you are ordering from and review the feedback. Some companies really sell very poor quality Asiatic bulbs and you'll wait years (quite unnecessary) for them to bloom!

I agree that your gorgeous lilies are 'Royal Sunset'...mine are 'Coral 'Sunrise' and are not the same...and not as pretty if you ask me! :) I definitely want some like yours!!!

Lovely!!!

Could this be Royal Sunset, also ??

I don't think so. The coloring and shape of the markings is more akin to Coral Sunrise, but looking at the pic with your hand in it, I'd guess your bloom to be 3-4 inches? I think my RS was 5-6 inches.

Waxhaw (Charlotte), NC(Zone 7b)

Yeah .. you right.. as usual... my mistake. It was actually asiatic "sweet kiss". Sorry.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8b)

Which do you think this is??? Bought it in a pot for $1 at a fall clearance....must have been 3-4 bulbs in there...talk about a good deal! But the tag just said Asiatic lily....any idea???

Thanks for looking!!

They're absolutely beautiful, but they sure don't look like mine!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Ken ~ me right as usual? lol I'm mistaken already in this thread! Sweet Kiss is very sweet.

Jamie ~ I have no idea what your lily is but what a gorgeous pink! And for $1 it might be a no-name, but who cares with a stunner like that? I'd have it in my garden any day.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

jamie - You have mail!

You have beautiful collection, love your Royal Sunset.

Well, maybe someone will come along who recognizes my sale Lily...it was an $18.00 pot that they clearanced out at the end of the season before they closed down for the year-end. It does have a name.....the tag was simply lost so they slashed the price. Maybe I will take some pics, and a bloom, back to the nursery...they might still remember which ones they had from last year....oh well, its not a big deal, I just wanted to order more for the other end of the border...I will just split this clump....

Thanks for looking everyone!! :o)
Jamie
ps. Sequee - you have mail!!

I just cannot get over how different this guy looks each day...I just took this one, as the sun is sinking in the sky, and the lighting gives it definite purple over tones.

Isn't it neat how they look so different in profile rather than straight on? That's really a nice bunch of lilies ~ what did you say your address was? ;)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

That really is one great looking clump of daylilies!

Susan

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8b)

Yes, it is...we have been watching them for several days. They just keep getting prettier, and prettier....(actually they are Asiatic lilies, from a bulb - not daylilies - but still a great looking clump...:o)!!!! )

Are they even prettier today, Sequee??? LOL :)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

OOps! I knew they were Asiatics, I just have a daylilies on the brain problem. Sure wish I knew there name.

Susan

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you! I do love them. They are such a wonderful sight when I leave each monring and return in the evening, since they are right at the driveway/walkway junction. The other, smaller clump, is off the beaten path and always gives me a start when I run across it. It's in a shadier spot and the flowers get a redder color to them. Simply stunning.

I think we've pretty much determined that they are the Royal Sunset.
