I caught this Checkered White, Pontia protodice, oviposting on a Sea Rocket which is a beautiful coastal/dune plant on some of our barrier islands http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/62582/index.html

Back to the Reddish Egret...these birds are such fun to watch. They posture and pose and fluff their feathers out all the time, more than any other bird I've watched...I'm not sure what this birds status was. The feathers say adult but the bird stayed very close to the same spot on the tree like a baby about to leave the nest...
