Lavender seeds - first try at seed collecting!

Had my first try at collecting seeds today. Just bought a very nice Spanish lavender that arrived with blooms, so when they dried I brought them in and started looking for seeds. They are very small, but I notice that some of them are still a bit green in color -- does that mean they are not ripe? Will they ripen more as they dry?

I can see how this is addicting -- can't wait to start popping my poppy pods! They were bursting as I collected them. :-)

Patience is needed, and a good deal of self-discipline, because lavender, as with most flowering perennials, should not be encouraged to bloom during its first year.

Thanks so much, Robin! That is exactly what I needed, in a clear concise note. I was pushing things because I wanted something to share at our upcoming round-up. I'll be patient and find something else. Your advice about first years also makes sense.
