Hello,
We planted some june bearing strawberries last year and we are presently getting a nice crop from them. (I live in Southern CA.) However, they have completely over-run the little patch where I planted them...runners everywhere and everything is getting quite cramped. I have to admit that we didn;t know what we were doing when we planted them...tried planting them in rows but now we just have a big fenced in jumbled mess. (well..its not THAT big...its about 5 ft square) It gets REALLY hot here in the summer...we are in the mountains just above the desert...cool nights, hot, dry days. What do I do with these strawberries plants when they are done producing to make sure they survive to next year?
Thanks!
Janis
Strawberries
Thin them out, weed them them, add a little fertilizer, either organic or regular as long as it is balanced (1-2 -1 ratio of NPK) use the thinned out plants to start a new patch. It is best to keep the younger plants.
