BTW my cucumber has escaped, what do I do? I thought it might start growing on top so I wouldn't have to stake it but it's not...
Cucumbers heavy feeders?
When it gets a little longer, turn it to go DOWN the stake. Don't know EXACTLY when you will have a cucumber, but the moon will start waxing next week, and cukes grow fastest as you approach the full moon. I always try to plant them by the full moon, and harvest them right after the full moon, when they are their biggest. Of course, you will probably just pick it as soon as it is big enough to eat, which is also a good idea, so it will make more LOL
