Crossville, TN

Mitch...It is the first week end in Oct. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/461091/

If you don't see the link for the Prizer Point Camp Ground...just type it into Google...at Cadiz, KY....they have tent, RV camping...and rent condo's and cabins. It's a great place for kids..and have good fishing...Lake Barkley.

Come on!! You'd love it

Looks like way to much fun - I have never been to a roundup yet . . . sounds like a planters dream come true! So how many and what types of plants do most of yall bring to one of these.

Crossville, TN

They bring what ever they want too...and some of us bring none...especially me, as I don't have any and am usually flying into Nashville and met by my son who lives in Crossville, TN I think there will be a thread of things that people will bring and do some trading before the RU...and mark them for certain people....but they usually still have lots of plants not spoken for. Just watch the Round Up thread as it gets closer to September...I hope to see ya';; there...you will never regret it. If you plan to rent a cabin or condo you should reserve one rather early...they get filled up as it is a great place for fishermen......Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

That would be a great break fro the kids here at school to . . . hummmmmday dreaming what I would have i could take up there . . . . Will have to fill for some time off now - - this sounds like real fun up there.... early trading . . . sounds like way to much fun.

Crossville, TN

OK...how about posting your intention to attend in the KY RU Thread...so we can keep a close head count...looking forward to meeting you and your family!! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Got to get the days off first - :-) boss does not always understand days off for plants, will know soon and try - thanks for the invite! Mitch

Crossville, TN

Got my fingers crossed....to match my crossed eyes!! Good Luck. Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Dont hold your breath! Schools are really really slow at times at getting this ok'ed.... but will try. Now to start getting some cuttings ready! I got a bunch of new bushes from my freecycle group I was going to cut up anyway . .hehe hehe I can see them already all lined up in the car ready to go . . . . Maybe some papaya too .... well now I have my work cut out!

Crossville, TN

Hey....I belong to FreeCycle also...and just got a lot of Iris!!! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I love the place - I have gotten 20 or so bushes, tons of prenn. that out grew their space, pots, soil, trellis, just love it. Everything from Yucca to four o'clocks - dont you love getting to grow someone elses garbage? Mitch

Crossville, TN

Mitch...I don't even know if they are too dry to grow...let's hope! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Can they get to dry? I kept some in the trunk of my car from a dig for over a week and they call came through it fine. I did not know that would die off that easy! That is the one problem with the bushes - you never know if they will take or not so I try to get the cuttings and mulch the rest.

Crossville, TN

Mitch...these are DEAD...as in looking like little cow patties!! I don't think they are worth the time and trouble to plant them...looks like they were dug up years ago!! They aren't like Daliahs that you dry out and replant. I'm disgusted with this guy!! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Yea that is a real shame . . . it is so hard to kill the things . . . maybe a mass Iris mass at the compost pile? Mitch

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

What a tragedy--how can anyone treat iris like that? When I go to Round Ups, I post a partial list of what i have extra & see what's worth taking. If one person wants some, others will too. I always take extra named daylilies & iris just for fun. I don't get around as much as roadrunner, but I'm planning to catch the Iowa, Missouri & Kentucky round ups this year....

Crossville, TN

Wanda...If you will save me some Iris...especially some Bearded ones...I will trade you something...but it won't be Plants!!

I just went out and looked at the mess that I got off FreeCycle...and I plan to call him and tell him that Iris can't be kept for years like these have been.

They are as dry as a bone!!

Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Roadrunner - if you want some Iris (mixed, tall bearded) I have tons here and can fill a box or two up for the postage. I pick them up but dont have room for all of them..... LMk Mitch

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Got the Iris fever going strong ? Yup

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Iris everywhere - between the mators and all! need some more?

Crossville, TN

I would Love some...just let me know how much postage!! Email me when you mail them so I'll know to go to my mail box in a few days to get them.....that is 2 miles...and not the direction I usually travel each day. So we manage to go every few days.

I called the FreeCycle guy...asked him how long the Irises had been out of the ground....He said "for some time"...I said...like one or two years? He said....Well....I told him to take them off the free offer. Jo

Thanks Mitch!

Crossville, TN

Mitch, I forgot to say that you can send the One Rate Priority Mail box for $7.70....they have 2 sizes and the one will hold a lot of stuff. We used them to send our packages to the soldiers in Iraq at Christmas.

Just in case you didn't know.....Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

That was what I was planning - send over the postage and I will dig them up and out that same day! I am in the exchange and could fill the bigger flat rate box twice over with the extras I have right now. Never a problem - Mitch

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

What about "Hemstitched"

http://www.schreinersgardens.com/page/SIGO/PROD/FRAG/HEMS

Crossville, TN

Oh BetsyBug...that is out of this world. As I am new to these beauties they are all awesome!!

Mitch..."the check is in the mail"...or will be tomorrow!! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Thanks Jo - Will get them out when it gets here.... is this fun or what? Mitch

Crossville, TN

I think this is the fun part...and since I have breathing problems the planting will not be as much fun....but OH! when they bloom...what glorious fun!! Jo

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

They are going to look great - I just love the things. Cant kill them around here, even if I dont water all summer! Hey what a perfect plant. Mitch

(Zone 8b)

BB hemstitched looks pretty similar too. Oh gosh I guess I'll never be sure!!!

(Zone 8b)

Could the purple and white iris be Jesse's Song? Mine is blooming and it looks an awful lot like that.

(Zone 8b)

Hi Pins,
It does look very similar exept that mine has a blue tongue and Jesse's Song appears to be white in the pictures in plant files.

Lafayette, IN(Zone 5a)

Would that last picture be Superstition?

Lafayette, IN(Zone 5a)

The purple and white one looks like Rare Treat or Stepping Out?

(Zone 8b)

irisluvr - I think its Rare Treat, its been suggested several times and I can't find any significant difference in the pictures. The tongue colour is right and the size etc as well.
